How To Make Money From Your Articles
Using Websites To Make Extra Money
I have read a hundred different blogs about ‘how to make money online’. Some sites seem to be optimistic on making easy money by freelancing or affiliate marketing using various methods. Other people are more realistic about how much you can make and the time and effort you need to put into it to get anything out of it. Although I have heard people who are struggling to make any significant money, some genuinely do make a nice profit. Whether you could live off the earnings or use it as a comfortable second income is relative and down to the individual.
Making Money From Ads
This appears to be the way to make a steady flow of cash, although for some it won’t be a lot. It is simple to do and if you enjoy writing, it can be an added bonus to your hobby. But the amount of money you make and the time it takes will vary quite a lot. While some people work hard at it and get the traffic, it still may have taken them a few months to become established.
You can sign up to Google Adsense and you will instantly have adverts on your site. Businesses will target blogs and articles which are relevant to them and place adverts on your pages. For example, if you have an article called How Do I Write a CV?, resume writing businesses will mainly appear there.
Google do have the right to remove their adverts at any time for any reason. But don’t lose heart if this happens, as there are other sites you can use to place adverts on your blog.
The idea of having Adsense is for visitors to click on the adverts. You will earn a percentage per click. If a visitor purchases a product from the advert you will earn slightly more. Again it will be a percentage of what Google earns. The clicks must be genuine i.e. you are not clicking on them yourself (ensure you read the terms and conditions before you sign up).
Where Can I Write My Articles?
If you clicked on the CV Writing link, you would have noticed I use Hubpages for some of my work. This is a great site to use if you want to write on virtually any topic in any style. You can be as creative or as matter of fact as you wish. As long as your hub is informative and original you can optimize it to get search engine hits, and hits from your followers.
Hubpages is a social networking site where a community of ‘Hubbers’ share their articles, poetry or prose. You can gain followers by publishing interesting hubs, or following others on the site.
By commenting, ‘voting up’ and sending fan mail to Hubbers can not only direct the love back to your hubs, but award you with Accolades . You can gain accolades for the amount of hubs you write, the amount of times your hubs get read and the period of time you have been a member. This can push up your ‘Hub Score’and make you a well respected member of the site.
It is a great place to use Adsense, but it also has it’s own Hubpages Ad Program. Here you can earn more money alongside placing ads for Amazon, You Tube and Ebay.
There are other sites which are very similar to Hubpages.
Squidoo and InfoBarrel are great places to write and earn from Adsense.
What About My Own Blogging Site?
Once you have joined Adsense you can copy and paste the code to any of your blogging sites. As long as the site allows it you can drive traffic to your personal blog and earn from the ads.
I use Blogspot for my blog, but there are other sites to sign up for free of charge. It won’t hurt to give it a go and see what happens!
How Can I get Views To My Pages?
Search Engine Optimization is all about placing relevant keywords in the pages, using creative and interesting content and creating strong backlinks.
I use Hubpages for backlinking. I also use Ezine Articles to write an informative article and link back to the site I wish to optimize.
Other ways to drive traffic is by pinging on social networking sites. This is where you notify your other social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus) that you have updated your blog. You friends and followers will then have the opportunity to check out what you have just written, and you get more hits in the process.
You can also bookmark your blog. By Digging it, giving it a Google Plus thumbs up or voting it on Delicious, you are strengthening its popularity on the search engines.
